3000 Hits! Up, up and away, the hits are really beginning to pick up again. There was a slump during the holidays (after all, who would want to study during a break with chemistry exams for which to review) but we are back to about 200 visitors a week.

New animations! I have begun to make animations of the images found in Expanded Octets these new images can be found by clicking on Chemistry Animations above. Once I finish with the Expanded Octets I will animate some of the other molecules in Chemistry Images. Hopefully these animations will help anyone visualize what these structures look like.

All work and no humor makes chemistry a dull subject. The first new piece of humor was submitted by lree@ufl.edu:

.... and you know - if silver nitrate spills - it will do so on an uneven surface so it will roll TOWARD you very quickly... usually on a day you're wearing shorts.

Keep the jokes coming, any other jokes or just plain humorous saying having to do with chemistry can be sent to me at eepp@altavista.net.

Changes! I've played around with the image quality and have shrunk the methane molecule animation by a half in terms of size. It shouldn't affect the quality noticeably. This means the page will look the same, but load a few seconds faster with these changes.

Chemistry homework awaits - Erik

Small Addition. I've added some useful definitions and information about bond order to Covalent Bonding Orbitals. The new material is at the end of the document.

Send in those jokes. If you have any fun chemistry jokes or humorous chemistry phrases, please send them to me at eepp@altavista.net. I will publish the best ones I receive, along with the sender's e-mail address.

More is on the way. I have finished putting up my chemical bonding notes and will be moving into liquids and solids next. As for organic chemistry, I have not been able to organize my note in such a way to make them as easy to understand as my AP chemister notes. I am working on it, but it may be some time before new organic chemistry sections are added.

To Err is Human... The forms that I put up on 1/2/1999 to make it easier to navigate my site seem to have some bugs. They work with some browsers, but not with others. As a result, I've taken them down until I can find a solution that works with the majority of browsers. They will return as soon as they are fixed.

New! As you can see above, I have added a Chemistry Humor section. I added the Laws of Laboratory Glassware from 9/16/1998 to start it off. If you have any fun chemistry jokes or humorous phrases, please send them to me at eepp@altavista.net. I will publish the best ones I receive, along with the sender's e-mail address.

Have fun! - Erik

New Link! A new link has been added to the Chemistry Links section. The NIST Webbook is a searchable online database containing information about chemical compounds. If you know of any good chemistry-related sites, send them to me so I can add them to the Chemistry Links section. Send the addresses (URL) of the sites to eepp@altavista.net.

New! As you can see above, I have added some forms for easier navigation of the site. The forms require JavaScript to be enabled in order to work properly. All you need to do is select the page you want to view and press the "Go!" button next to it. If you find any bugs, have any problems with this, or have any comments and suggestions, please send them to me at eepp@altavista.net.

For those of you who missed yesterday's post because of the new year, Covalent Bonding Orbitals has been completed and uploaded. It contains information about hybridization and the Molecular Orbital theory. It can be found under Chemical Bonding at the left or in the drop-down menu above.

Happy New Year!

New Section! Covalent Bonding Orbitals has been completed and uploaded. It contains information about hybridization and the Molecular Orbital theory. It can be found under Chemical Bonding at the left.

6 Months! Erik's Chemistry is now in its 6th month. Hopefully I will be able to keep this site going for years to come. I hope you all had a very happy New Year!
